When Love is Enough: A Revelation for God’s Children

It's easy to lose sight of what we, as a community of believers, do for the Kingdom. Whether it's volunteering locally or taking the leap to serve overseas, sometimes the moment seems underestimated and even insignificant. Passporter Brittany Collins experienced the same struggle, and eventually revelation, in the Philippines.

Brittany's breakthrough occured in the simplicity of James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress."

Everyday in the Philippines I got to work with kids. I spent my days with girls who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, orphans who now live in a childrens home, or street kids just outside our gate.

I simply lived life with them. I led them in small groups, went to their volleyball and basketball games, helped them with homework, and put them to bed by praying and singing over them. We played London bridges, and ring around the rosie, and threw kids into the air until my arms hurt and then some.

I had the privilege to see a girl and a boy get adopted to the States by a loving family.

So maybe I didn't get to witness a miracle or help someone know Jesus like I expected. But I learned what it's like to really live like Jesus. To love until it doesn't seem like I can love anymore. To serve and to love the least of these. Maybe it won't be enough for some people, but it sure is enough for me.

Brittany discovered that her love was enough — yours can be too. We still have a few spaces in this July's trip to the Philippines — Join us now!
