Nothing Moved Me More than Feeding a Stranger

Dayna Bickham recently participated in our Wrecked Vision Trip to Guatemala. Dayna is a wife of nearly 19 years and a mom of two teen girls. She is a blogger and the author of The Purpose of Chosen. She also contributes to other sites around the web and loves to serve on mission trips around the world. "This adventure with God is like the best ride at a carnival: equal parts fun and and equal parts scary, but irresistible either way." – Dayna He seems angry. His tongue spills out over his chin because he has no teeth left. He sits in the middle of the shaded courtyard,...

The Best of #AdventuresInLove

Last week we asked you to share stories about how you fell in love on your mission trip. We asked you to post them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so that we could showcase all that God is doing all over the world. And you responded. You told us stories of little ones who captured your heart. Stories of the elderly that spoke wisdom into your life. Stories of countries that became home. We've been keeping track of your stories – and have been unexpectedly blessed by your hearts. So we wanted to share our favorites of #AdventuresInLove. Love really is an adventure, isn't...

One Easy Way To Celebrate Great Stories

“We live in a world where bad stories are told, stories that teach us life doesn’t mean anything and that humanity has no great purpose.”  We wake up, we shower, we leave the house. We spend our days at work or school doing the same things over and over again, with slight variation. We dream of the life we wanted and lament that the dream hasn’t come true.  We itch with the understanding that we were made for something more — something deeper, something grander — the story we were meant to live.  What story are you meant to live? What...

What Does Christmas on the World Race Look Like?

Raychel Manko and the rest of the World Race September 2012 I Squad spent last month in Swaziland. Leaving home for 11 months to travel the world means missing holidays back home. Christmas in Swaziland doesn’t look much like Christmas in America, but Raychel and her teammates found out that sometimes the best gifts are found where they least expect them. What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever received? I’m sure we could all answer that question in a lot of different ways, but I can almost guarantee that none of us would ever answer that question with… CABBAGE. For...

Adventures Storytellers Contest – Vote Now!

Stories are the threads that weave through our days. They connect seemingly random flashes of life. They’re the way we derive meaning from moments. They’re how we share our lives – our stories bumping and colliding with the stories of others. And when we share them, stories are the most powerful tool we have to create change.  Stories are active, stirring something true inside all of us, allowing our hearts to be connected deeply to people we have never met.  Stories pull at our hearts in ways nothing else can.  Stories are the tools that change the world.  At...

Our 100,000th Blog Post: Why We Tell Stories

This week, the 100,000th Adventures in Missions blog post was written! Here at Adventures, we highly value stories. Because we want people to write good stories with their lives, we have programs such as the World Race. The World Race began in 2006 when a group of twenty-somethings circled the globe simply asking the Lord for direction. As we enter 2013, we look forward to launching almost 700 Racers onto the field. All of these Racers have told their stories publicly — for the world to read. Why do we tell stories? Our goal is to create a culture of storytelling here at Adventures...
