Just Another Night in Thailand

While in Thailand June 2014, Tameka Rish’s heart broke for those she met in the Red Light District. The stories she heard inspired her to write this poem. Adventures returns to Thailand in November to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ. We will continue the work begun by teams past through prayer walking and living intentionally in the heart of Bangkok. To sign up or find out more, visit our website.   Broken by: Tameka Rish   She pulls on the few clothes she’s provided.Applies her make up to cover all she is hiding. Like...

Not OK: When Love Walks In, A Sex Slave Walks Out

This year, we’ve focused on stories inspired by our We Are the World Race Campaign. This month, we’re sharing stories inspired by women on the mission field. (Don’t worry guys, your turn is coming next month!) Our experiences with women worldwide have taught us what womanhood really means. Women are wired for intimate relationships and deep, abiding love. And even when that “love” is used to take advantage of them—things like human trafficking, prostitution, and exploitation, to name a few—women teach us about beauty, femininity, joy, and God’s...

How a Ladyboy Found Freedom in the Red Light District

Sometimes it doesn’t take long to change someone’s life. Justin Farmer, of the September 2012 World Race J Squad, learned what God can do in a month when we’re willing to serve.  His name is Q. He’s about five feet, four inches tall, like most of the Thai men around here, and from the moment I met him, I loved him. Actually, we met him twice. The first time, he was dressed from head to toe like a woman. Blending in with all of the other ladyboys, he sat behind the bar and smiled at us. We asked for his name, and he replied, Q. Nothing more was said. He left, and...

Cancel the Amber Alert

This summer, Hannah Segers–a Passport participant to Thailand–was rocked to the bone and she walked the streets of Chang Mai seeing first hand the horrible epidemic of trafficking. She not only gained a passion to fight against it but saw a glimpse of it through the Lord's eyes. This is her story.   Searching, meaning, purpose.   These words have been playing on repeat in the tape deck of my mind the past 5 days to the point that the tape should just about be worn out. In the red light district of Chiang Mai I've seen this unending, ever-winding search....
