What Happens When Over 2,700 People Go on Mission Trips in One Summer

For many, summer is a time to kick back and relax. However, the opposite is true at Adventures. For us, summer is the busiest season of the year—and we love it.

While World Race, Gap Year, and Passport go out on mission trips year round, other programs like Short Term Missions and Ambassadors launch mainly in the summer, so families and students have the opportunity to go.

Since May 2017, over 2,700 missionaries have been sent throughout the world, sharing God’s love with everyone they meet. Another 400+ have attended trainings in Gainesville, Georgia, preparing for upcoming World Race and Gap Year Launches.

These missionaries are as young as 6-years-old and adults in their 70s. They range from Generation Z to Baby Boomers, from CEOs to students, and are from different denominations and cultural backgrounds.

They are the Body of Christ.

Their stories have been so captivating, we decided to let them tell you what God has done on their trips!

Short Term Missions:

When is the Messiah Coming?

While at a high school outreach in the Philippines, Terri Dearth felt tired and discouraged. She decided to go back to the van and wait for the rest of the team instead of engaging in more conversations. Then several students approached her and asked a question she’ll never forget.

Adventures Youth:

When God Breaks Your Heart for What Breaks His

While at a homeless outreach under a bridge in Nashville, high school student Marissa Moore was overcome with an emotion she couldn’t put into words. Later she realized the depth of compassion she felt was God breaking her heart for what breaks His.

Family Missions:

A Kid’s Viewpoint

Here’s is what 10-year old Eric Harper had to say about his family mission trip to Appalachia:

I had a lot of fun this week. Something new that I learned is that not everyone has a lot of things. We are all different.

This helped me grow with being close to God. I feel that I can help more people after seeing it with my own eyes. I learned that it is good to help other people and trust in God.

Ambassador:

He accepted Christ!

When this high school team to Nicaragua went walking through the village of San Carlos, they met a man working in the fields and began to talk with him. By the time they left, he had accepted Jesus as His Savior!

Passport:

This Bar No Longer Sells Girls

Passporter Brooke Selby went to a cabin restaurant in Nepal, a place where women were commonly sold to customers in the booths, or “cabins”. Brooke’s hosts had been praying for this restaurant for two years—and when they got there, they discovered the owner and stopped selling girls a few days earlier!

Gap Year:

He Was Wrongfully Imprisoned and Saved the Man Who Put Him There

Gap Year Racer Maya Kuipers met a man in Zambia who had the most incredible story of betrayal, forgiveness, and God’s amazing grace.

World Race:

In Rwanda, God Taught Me About Hope

While on Month 9 in Rwanda, World Racer Jonathan Hogue experienced the life-changing power of hope.

So, what happens when over 2,700 people go on mission trips in one summer?

The Kingdom of God is advanced as His love is spread throughout the world—all because 2700 people said, “yes” to His call.
